EISENHOWER HIGH SCHOOL PTSA MINUTES SEPTEMBER. 8, 2010

President Sherrie Schwehr called the general membership meeting to order at 6:33pm in Room 103. Introductions were made. Members present are included on the attached signup sheet. Notification was made by email & IKE newsletter.

Minutes of May 2009 meeting were read and amended. Dues are $12 per member (not $8).

Principal’s Report-

Currently IKE has 2016 students. There is a goal of reigniting school spirit this year.

Student test scores are down in  Reading, Writing and Math for the 3rd consecutive year.

A MATHLAND has been created in the portables. All Math staff are there.

6 new Math interventionists have been hired and 2 Reading interventionists.

College Success Foundation has 2 people on campus to work with Upward Bound to help kids find and get scholarships.

Map of new IKE presented- Groundbreaking is set for June 3, 2011.

2 assaults on staff last week. Students were arrested and expelled.

Ben Graves is School Resource Officer.

Treasurer’s Report- July and August were presented.

Membership Report-  20 members at this time. Push at Open House/Student Led Conferences on Thurs. Oct. 13 (same night as next PTSA meeting). Possible  50/50 raffle as a fundraiser that night as membership incentive.  ESCRIP needs to be updated. More staff and parents need to sign up as this is IKE PTSA’s main funding source.

Senior Party Report- Fundraisers are 3^rd annual Craft and Yard Sale, set for 3/19 & 3/20, (a silent auction will be added this year) and the IKE/Davis staff basketball game, scheduled for 3/18. The Royces will head up fundraising for the party. A senior parent meeting needs to be scheduled.

President’s Report- The IKE PTSA website is up and running. Cost is $60 per year. We are linked to the IKE website. Our address is www.ikeptsa.org.  We are also on Facebook. All officers have their own email account through the website.

The Standing Rules have been amended. A December meeting has been added and each meeting will be the 2^nd Wed. of each month Sept. – May at 6:30pm.

A PTA Council meeting is set for 9/20 with the Health District and District  ASB reps.

There are openings for committee chairs.
