Eisenhower High School PTSA November 2011, Meeting
Minutes
President Lori Frymier called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm.
Present were Lori Frymier, Kim Griffith, Stacey Locke, Lisa Allison, Lynda Otey, Melissa Lemp, Susie Ball, Eric
Franz and Toni Ivey.
Minutes of the last meeting were approved as mailed.
Treasurer’s Report: Lori and Kim presented the Treasurer’s
report. Kim noted there are some typos in the sums. Susie moved to move up to $1725 from the CD to the
general account as needed. Lynda seconded. Passed. Toni voted no.
There was discussion of the general fund and money for the class
parties. Lori clarified that PTSA does not help raise money for the senior party. Lori has suggested
that we not do a lot of active fund raising at this time to avoid competition with the classes raising money for
their parties. Obviously though at some point, the PTSA will need to do some fund raising.
Principal’s Report: At 6 pm the group had pizza with the
principal. We will plan to do this monthly and hope that will bring in some parents who want a chance to talk
with Ms Locke as well as potentially more PTSA members. An announcement of this will be on the
website.
Ms Locke presented information that was shared with the school board
when they were at Eisenhower on 10/28 reviewing some of the programs provided at Ike.
Old Business: No one was present to report on Reflections, but
the deadline for submitting entries is past. No one was available to report formally on the Senior Party, but
it appears that plans are progressing. Student led conferences went well. PTSA newsletter items are
requested. Lori presented information on the levy committee. You can get a preview of their
recommendation at http://www.wastatepta.org/advocacy/budget/index.html . Basically, the committee
recommends to the school board that they seek approval of a 4 year replacement levy
New Business: All are invited to check out our website
at: www.Ikeptsa.org for information
including meeting minutes, membership forms, etc.
Eric Franz, Instructional Technology Coach for Yakima Public Schools
then did an overview of Skyward (https://www2.scrdc.wa-k12.net/scripts/cgiip.exe/WService=wyakimas71/fwemnu01.w ) and
encourages all parents to visit the site and make use of the features to include checking your child’s grades,
attendance and schedule and to communicate with teachers, etc. One needs to get a user name and password from
their child’s school before the first use, but then those will work for however many years one has students in the
YSD.
Lori closed the meeting at 7:50 pm.
Next meeting is 12/14/11 6:30 – 7:30, although there will be pizza
with the principal at 6 pm.
