Various meetings were held to organize and plan for the 2010-2011 PTSA plans over the summer.

Eisenhower High School PTSA Board Meeting Notes 7-24-2010

Present-Sherrie Schwehr, Pres   Lisa Allison, VP    Lynda Otey, Treas

             Linda Kincannon, Sec & Lori Frymier, Membership

-President Sherrie Schwehr called the board meeting to order at 9:45

at the Chalet Starbucks.

-General Membership Meeting dates set for 2^nd Wed of each month

except Dec & June-Aug.

-Ike Freshman Academy is set for Aug. 24 & 25

 PTSA will set up a table each day with membership forms and Escrip

sign-ups, possibly have a drawing for Mercy movie or Starbucks gift cards. 

-Discussed ways to increase membership and parent participation

by changing dues structure (basic, family, contributing)

 -Set brainstorming meetings on membership at Lori’s for each Friday

July 31-Aug 21 to cover dues, volunteer opportunities

and the final packet for the Frosh Academy.

-Discussed setting up a 4-person Senior Party committee

-District news from Sherrie

            She is the 2010-2011 treasurer for Council.

            An officer workshop is scheduled for Aug 19 from 6-9pm at L Middle School

            They will send a speaker to each PTSA concerning ASB vs PTSA

-Sherrie will check on setting up a date for annual IKE PTSA audit with

Tony, Joyce Jackson, & Lynda Otey.

-Lisa volunteered to head PTSA fundraising efforts.

Reported on progress for Greenway Legacy (students seek donations from area businesses and work to enhance the Greenway from Yakima to Naches) and a

Dance-a-thon to benefit Special Olympics & the Soph class.

-Lynda volunteered to setup an IKE PTSA website. Possible

domain name IKEPTSA.edu.

-Her son , Kennon,  has suggested a Senior Slave Day as a senior party fundraiser.

-Reflections   A chairperson is needed as well as  teacher involvement.

-Craft & Yard Sale   Possibly add a silent auction or a Scholastic Book Fair

            Need to reserve gym for sale dates at District Office.

-Mrs. Harris, IKE Vice Principal will be in charge of activities for the coming year

PTSA Membership Meeting Notes 8-6-2010

Present-Sherrie Schwehr,  Lynda Otey,  Linda Kincannon & Lori Frymier

-Memberships are active until Oct. of each year, presently there are 37 PTSA members

-Need to check on what board can do to set new membership dues structure

            Can we set dues and structure by an email quorum?

-General Membership Meetings will be the 2^nd Wednesday of each month Sept-May.

-Freshman Academy 8-24 & 8-25 Lynda and Linda will set up at 8:30 Tues

and Sherrie and ? will setup Wed.

-Each year we will set the dues structure for the next school year at a spring

            General Membership meeting

-Website will be ikeptsa.org     Need to speak to Ike admin about linking

            to Family Access, Ike’s website and Escrip

-Brainstormed active Ike parents by grade level

-Discussed amount of dues going to National, State and Council and what we

receive in return. Also the mission of each.

PTSA Board & Admin Meeting Notes 8-11-2010

Present-Ms. Locke, Mrs. Harris, Sherrie Schwehr, Lynda Otey & Linda Kincannon

-Freshman Orientation-8/24 & 8/25.

            No parent meeting or dance

            Math assessment will be done during orientation for all freshmen

            6 Math interventionist have been hired for 2010-2011

 PTSA will setup outside at 2 spots- in Sr lot off 40^th  & at student dropoff on Arlington 8:30-9:30 and 12:15-12:45.

-Sport night is set for 8-12-2010

-Student led conferences are Oct. 13 at 5pm. The PTSA meeting is the same night at 6:30

            Excellent time for recruiting PTSA membership.

-PTSA website We will link to Ike website and possibly Family Access

            Superintendent has added  a YSD facebook page and we will try to link to it.

-Class schedules will be mailed out this year.

-IKE newsletter will got out next week –Talk to Heather about adding membership form  & Escrip

-No master calendar of Ike events yet

-Roundup is scheduled for 9-10-2010. Sherrie reported that Roundup had not

been  successful in  signing up new members last year.

-Annette Cook is over Leadership and Renaissance this year.
