EISENHOWER HIGH SCHOOL PTSA MEETING MINUTES  MAY 13, 2011  

 

President Sherrie Schwehr called the meeting to order at 6:35pm. Present were Lori Frymier, Linda Kincannon, Lynda Otey, Susie Ball, Stacey Locke, Lisa Allison, Brian Suenishi, Mary Allen, Karen Troianello, Rhonda Easter, Renee Holwegner, Kim Griffith and Andy & Cheryl Sauer.

 

Minutes of the April meeting were read and approved.

 

Treasurer’s Report- April report was presented. $1.85 interest earned & $59.98 from escrip. A preliminary budget for next year was approved. Invoices for reimbursement must be turned in by June 15.

 

Guest Report- Mary Allen requests volunteers May 20th from 11:15-12:30 to scoop ice cream for the Renaissance Rewards Root Beer Float Social.

 

Principal’s Report- Ike will change from trimester to semester this fall to more closely align with the majority of other school districts. Ike is looking for a head Girls basketball coach. Graduation is just around the corner. Senior talent has been recruited for Baccalaureate, the Senior Luncheon and Graduation. In order to show respect for all of the graduates, an announcement will be made to turn off all cell phones and to NOT leave early. On site childcare will possibly be provided. Class elections will be held May 13. An OCR audit will take place next Wednesday. PTSA members and community members can volunteer to be Senior Project Judicators.

 

Fundraiser/Causes- A link to donate to the Crimestoppers program through Facebook and the PTSA website (ikeptsa.org) has been established. Lynda Otey has been working to get this program up and running and will continue with development. Promotion is key to its success. Suggestions were through flyers, announcements at assemblies and alumni reunions, posters and the IKE newsletter.

 

Senior Party- Senior Party Parent meeting will be held May 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 to sign up for positions (kitchen, roamers, casino)  $7000 in  prizes will be given out to the grads. Tickets will be on sale 5/18 ,26 & 27 at lunch & after school. As an incentive for presale ticket purchase, more casino cash will be given out to early purchasers. Parents of Juniors are needed to get ready at the Armory from 9:30- 11pm so the Senior Parents can enjoy Graduation. Decorating will take place 5/31 & 6/2 at 10am.

 

Honors Convocation- May 16 at Englewood Christian Church. Setup for punch and cookies will be at 2pm. Helpers have been recruited.

 

Baccalaureate- will be June 1st at Holy Family Church. Father Geary is doing the service. Programs are prepared. Renee is donating the flowers for arrangements. The cookies will be baked in the IKE Home Ec.  room.  Junior parents have volunteered to serve at this event. A parent has also volunteered to chair this event for next year.

 

Dept. Academic & Excellence Awards-Theresa Trujillo is chair. Cookies are needed and people to pour punch. Kim is helping.

 

President’s Report- Chair & Committee Reports are due by June 15, 2010. Thank You from Sherrie to the board for this year.

 

New Business- Lori is planning a freshman orientation for the coming school year and is applying for a grant from Rotary to fund this. The PTSA will be using the Parent Center for storage and as a work area. A preliminary  PTSA board and membership flow chart for reorganization was passed out for further discussion.   

Meeting was adjourned at 7:50pm.

6/1           Baccalaureate 7:30pm Holy Family Church

6/2           Graduation & Senior Party (Mandatory Rehearsal 8am-noon Sundome)

6/10          Last Day of School / 3rd Trimester ends

8/31          1st Day of School
