EISENHOWER HIGH SCHOOL PTSA MEETING MINUTES MAR. 9,2011

VP Lisa Allison called the meeting to order at 6:35pm due to President Schwehr’s illness. Present were Lori Frymier, Carol Pogorelc, Linda Kincannon, Lynda Otey, Susie Ball, Stacey Locke, Lisa Allison, Brian Suenishi, Nathan & Julia Griffin.

Minutes of the Feb. meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s Report- February report was presented.No  expenses this month. 2 new members added for $24, $1.11 interest earned & $46.24 from  escrip.

GOLDEN ACORN 2011 winner for IKE is Lynda Otey and the OUTSTANDING EDUCATOR 2011 is Annette Cook. Congratulations to both of you!  Award Ceremony is at 6:30pm  March10 at Davis Kiva.

Principal’s Report-

A free webinar will be held 3/17 from 6-7pm for more information about viral fundraising. Logon at www.guyelvinwhite.com/webinar to register.

A 5 minute rotating lunch start begins 3/14 so cafeteria will not exceed 500 people at any one time per City of Yakima Code Enforcement.  Clubs such as FBLA, Skills USA Welding and Speech & Debate are doing well in their competitions.

Legislative Budget Cuts are a real concern for the new school building project since matching funds are a large part of the funding resources.

Senior Party - A Senior Party Parent meeting will be held Mar. 22^nd & Apr. 26.

The next fundraiser will be the IKE/Davis staff basketball game on March 18 and then the 3^rd Annual Craft and Yard Sale on March 19^th & 20th .The senior party will be at the National Guard Armory and have a Hawaiian theme. There will be a training meeting for parents working the casino. Davis will do setup and have their party on June 1^st. Ike’s party will be after graduation on the 2^nd and we will do teardown and cleanup. There will be a DJ, casino, inflatables, food and games with lots of cool prizes.

3^rd Annual Craft & Yard Sale-March 19 & 20-Vendor space is still available. Help will be needed for setup on Friday (the 18^th ) at 4pm, Saturday morning to get vendors in from 7am-9am and to tear down on Sunday from 3-4pm. Students will be needed to deliver the lunches to the vendor tables Sat & Sun from 1130am-1pm..

President’s Report - Election of new officers at the April meeting.

New Business-The nominating committee for next year’s officers are Susie Ball, Amy Karau, Sherry & Andy Sauer and Erica Adams. Nominating committee vote was approved. Parents of JUNIORS have volunteered to help with Baccalaureate, Honors Convocation and the Senior Party. A membership survey was conducted with 26 out of 56 responding.                                                                Meeting was adjourned at 7:15pm.
