EISENHOWER HIGH SCHOOL PTSA MEETING MINUTES DEC. 8, 2010   

President Sherrie Schwehr called the meeting to order at 6:37pm in Room 103. Members present were Lori Frymier, Sherrie Schwehr, Linda Kincannon, Susie Ball, Eric Franz, Loretta Franz, Annette Cook, Lynda Otey and Lisa Allison.

Minutes of the Oct. meeting were read and approved. Minutes for the Nov. meeting were read and approved after clarification concerning the Senior trip. All current classes at IKE can have an ASB funded trip but the class of 2015 and beyond will not be able to use ASB funds for a trip. If a parent group chooses to take on the responsibility of funding and planning, the class will still be able to have a trip.

 

Principal’s Report- none

 

Treasurer’s Report- November report was presented.

 

Reflections- IKE has 5 entries.140 total students entered from the district. 3 IKE teachers will be given gift cards for participation. The ceremony will be Jan. 10, 2011 at IKE. Refreshments will be furnished by PTSA. Heather, IKE’s office manager, is in charge of the activities calendar so if a classroom is needed for a particular event, contact her to put it on the school calendar. If the cafeteria or gym is needed for an event, contact the

District administration to reserve and Heather also. Proof of insurance is required for facility use if no IKE staff is involved.

 

Senior Party- Event will be held at the Armory on Ahtanum. Rental rates charged are significantly less than the AG building at the fairgrounds. We have full use of kitchen facilities. Laser Tag will be outside and the casino will be in the attached meeting rooms. They will also provide security. The next fundraiser will be the New Year’s Eve… Eve dance on the 30th. It will run from 8-11:30pm at IKE. Micah Cawley will deejay and SRO Graves will provide security. Cost is $7 in advance, $10 at the door.

 

Renaissance-653 students have qualified for early release Dec. 17 for earning an accumulative GPA of 3. or higher. Notification has been sent to parents. Sweat pants and hoodies are currently on sale for $20. Renaissance is filling Christmas mugs to present to staff on Monday. IKE Renaissance students are going to several middle and elementary schools to help them start programs involving school spirit and conflict resolution.

 

Golden Acorn- Loretta Franz has agreed to chair this committee.

 

Membership-IKE was awarded a WSPTA certificate for a 50% increase in membership this year. Thank you, Lori, for your efforts! A drive is in the planning stages for a membership and Escrip contest between Cadet Connections classes. Winning class will receive a pizza party. Albertsons is doing a Community Partners promotion similar to Escrip.

 

Junior Class Liaison- we are in need of a Junior  parent for this.

 

New Business-A committee is being formed to review the Standing Rules. Susie Ball and Loretta Franz have volunteered with President Sherrie Schwehr. The rules will be amended to list WSPTA as our registered agent with the IRS. The new Rules will be ready for approval at the January meeting.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40pm.
